The origin story
One founder had twin juniors. Forty-seven tabs. Three spreadsheets. A shared Google Doc named “College Stuff FINAL v2 (USE THIS ONE).” A deadline missed by forty-five minutes because an email from the CSS Profile landed in the spam folder.
We looked at the existing tools — Naviance, the Common App, Scoir, a dozen scholarship search sites, a handful of paid counselor platforms — and saw the same pattern: each one solved one slice, and left families to duct-tape the rest together.
So we started building the thing we actually wanted: a single, calm, family-first home base for the whole college years.
What we believe
1. The parent is running the show.
Everyone likes to pretend the college process is a student journey. It is — and it isn't. The parent is the project manager, the accountant, the logistics team, and the emotional support. That job should have a dashboard.
2. Quiet beats loud.
We'll never be the tool with seventeen pop-ups, six notification categories, and a gamification layer. A good tool in this season is like a good counselor: calm, present, and gone when you don't need it.
3. Honesty over hype.
Our AI matching uses Claude, powered by publicly available admissions data. We don't have a secret algorithm, and we won't pretend to. Our pricing is flat. Our privacy policy is written in English. Our refund policy is one email away.
4. Every family, not just some families.
If your family qualifies for a Pell Grant, Premium is on us. This was a founding decision, not a marketing move.
What we're not
- Not a replacement for your counselor. If you have a good one, Diplomare makes their time more valuable. If you don't, it's usually enough.
- Not a guarantee of admission. No tool is. What we can promise: you won't miss a deadline, you won't forget an essay, and you'll see the real price of every school before you fall in love with it.
- Not a data broker. Ever. Your family's data is a liability, not a product.
Who we are
Diplomare is built by a small team of parents, former counselors, and engineers. We're independent, we're bootstrapped, and we intend to be around when your eighth-grader starts their own college search.
